001 – The Jungian Approach to Spirituality

What Is the Jungian Approach to Spirituality?

Welcome to the debut episode of Becoming In Tune, where we explore soul work through a Jungian lens.

In this foundational conversation, we introduce the man behind the movement: Carl Jung—Swiss psychiatrist, one-time collaborator of Freud, and the pioneering force behind analytical psychology. We trace his break from Freud and explore why Jung’s ideas are experiencing a powerful resurgence in our cultural moment where our spiritual instincts lack suitable outlets.

We also take on the curious and often misunderstood term “Jungian.” What does it really mean? Why did Jung resist the label himself? And—perhaps most importantly—is this a spiritual philosophy or a cult of personality? We confront the question head-on, unpacking the core values of the Jungian path: inner authority over outer dogma, personal empowerment over guru worship, and a commitment to curiosity, openness, and self-discovery.

Together, we explore the central pillars of Jungian spirituality—working with the unconscious, the process of individuation, and the embodiment of the full self. We reflect on why this work feels not just meaningful but necessary in an era marked by polarization, projection, and disconnection. In a time when othering comes at too high a cost, turning inward may be the most radical act of all.

What we discuss in this episode:
